Athlete-Students, not Student-Athletes

David K. Wiggins, director of the School of Recreation Management at George Mason University, calls the situation facing African American college athletes a "strange mix of entitlement and exploitation." He is speaking on the first panel during the Losing to Win conference. Noting the poor graduation rates for African American college players, Wiggins says "African American college athletes of today are more athlete-student than student-athlete." -- Alicia Roberts
